Naming horses

(1987 midApril) [Sherry named her newborn foal - a filly -"Darcy."] Darcy in Pride and Prejudice is a man. Have you ever known a woman with that name? I haven't been invited but think I might nudge in anyway and offer suggestions for a name for the male or female foal. New Foal Suggestions (male/female names): Italian - Dante / Beatrice. Shakespeare - Oberon / Titania. French - Napoleon / Josephine. Mystery - Max / Christie. Opera - Pinkerton / Cho-cho San. Food - Pepper / Hot Buttered Toast. Drink - Pepsi / Coco. Jewelry - Ring / Pearl. Flower - Jack-in-the-Pulpit / Rose. Pet - Sweetie Pie / Honey.

Tulip time

(1987 mid May) The tulip bed I planted has been depleted by moles tho some are up. None in bloom but the ones from other years are blooming. Why does Burpees and others want to sell me spring bulbs now?

Skip's first birthday

(1932 March 28, Monday) Our baby is one year old. He can walk about a yard, gurgles but doesn't talk any. I had the Kay relatives to a little party for him and baked him a cake, but he is pretty young yet.

New waist

(1987) It's tea time and I write as I sip my tea. .... Have you heard the joke about the cold Irish man whose feet were cold at night so he cut off his blanket on top and sewed it on the bottom? I was thinking of him when I altered some sapphire slacks which I cut off on the bottom and sewed the pieces on the top for a new waistband because the original was nearly 2" wide, sewn 6 X with elastic - so hard and tough, I knew I could not stand it!

Spring water

A wonderful buy - a gallon of Spring Water for 88 cents. I think I'll always have it in the fridge for drinking. You'll see!
