Funeral

(1960 October 5)

After the service at Pratt's [funeral parlor, for whom is not stated], we drove to Woodstock Cemetery in string of about 20 cars. Then parked and climbed steep hill and trekked thru long cemetery grass. At graveside Masonic rites and VFW and American Legion. All went well or smoothly until the widow was presented with the flag and the guns were shot into the woods - she lost control then. It was terrible, I thot. Some of the customs are just too much.
