Prom night

(1961 April 25)

Last Saturday was the Prom and I was dreading it because kids think that night is open to do anything anyone suggests - lite out to Madison, etc. But all went very well as far as I could see. M's hair turned out well and that seemed to be so important. As she is up to 130 she had to wear a strong undergarment to get her formal on, but she is a sturdy girl and doesn't seem to mind. Her friends came here at 9, all with orchid corsages. M says hers was originally purple dyed yellow to match her dress. Very shortly after 12 they were all back tying into the sandwiches and cakes. At 1 they all left and at 1:15 we were all asleep. I stayed up and read in the kitchen, as others dropped in from Premo party and I thot I should be en garde. I am very glad it is over and that it went over as well as it did.
