Entertaining Auntie

(1960 June)

Now back to Aunie Mabel's visit. I had been feeling so guilty about not having her last year that I decided to do it as soon as the weather would permit her being out. So it rained every day for months. At last I named the day and she came Sunday, June 12, and left Sat. a.m., a week. She I believe is sweeter than she was, deafer, lots of the old fight gone, still vigorous. I talked to MM carefully before she came so that we spelled each other. I would play games with her while MM was cooking a meal or washing up and vice versa. L took her for rides after work. One day I took her for a walk. MM took her for a walk and played 16 games of croquet with her, of which Auntie won half. L gave her a ride, and we played dominoes in the evening & TV and altho we were exhausted, she was fine and at 83 or whatever.
